Sunday's UNLV at Wichita State game now on television!!
After hearing 30 minutes of incessant griping from DC and the Sunshine Man on Thursday about the lack of television for Rebel road games, UNLV announced Las Vegas will be able to see the Rebels on the road this Sunday against Wichita State at 1 p.m. PT.
That's not really the way it went down, but the folks at UNLV were able to secure a television feed with the help of Cox cable:
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Cox Communications, Las Vegas has announced it will broadcast this Sunday’s UNLV Runnin’ Rebel men’s basketball game at Wichita State live locally in Southern Nevada on Cox Channel 96 at 1 p.m. PT. The game will also be streamed live online at www.cox96.net.
“Cox Communications remains strong supporters of UNLV Athletics and we’re proud to provide local broadcast coverage of our undefeated Runnin’ Rebels,” said Steve Schorr, vice president of public and government affairs at Cox Las Vegas.
The No. 18/20 Runnin’ Rebels improved to 8-0 on the season Wednesday with a thrilling double-overtime win over UC Santa Barbara. The win came just four days after beating then-No. 1 North Carolina.
“We appreciate the efforts of all of those who are making it possible for our fans to see Sunday’s game in the Las Vegas market,” said UNLV head coach Dave Rice. “The city is excited about our program and we want to do everything we can to provide access to our fans to support their Runnin’ Rebels.”
The television broadcast feed will be picked up from the local broadcast in Kansas for Wichita State, and as is every UNLV men’s basketball game, Sunday’s game will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 1100 AM and 98.9 FM with Jon Sandler and Robert Smith.
